Underscoring Miami’s emergence as a hub for blue economy innovation, Seaworthy Collective’s recent showcase highlighted a growing pipeline of startups developing ocean-focused solutions spanning climate resilience, marine robotics, sustainable seafood, and coastal monitoring.
The Nature Conservancy and Newlab selected three new pilot projects through their Global Ocean Innovation Challenge that are focused on deploying autonomous vessels, AI-powered acoustic monitoring, and fisheries intelligence platforms aim to strengthen marine protection and fisheries management across Southeast Asia and the Pacific by improving real-time ocean data and enforcement capabilities.
Highlighting a growing trend in the blue economy, this piece argues that proprietary networks of physical ocean sensors are becoming a key competitive advantage by enabling high-quality, real-time marine data for forecasting, operations, and coastal risk management.
